Vinyl Blinds Cleaning
Vinyl or plastic blinds can be found in almost any home or workplace and we use them practically every day without thinking about them. So it’s easy to neglect cleaning them until the dirt, grease, and grime become too obvious to ignore. There are a couple of ways to clean them. While they’re hanging up, you can dust them them with a soft cloth or vacuum attachment, but this won’t remove greasy dirt and grime. To do that, mix one part vinegar to ten parts water in a bucket and use a sponge to apply the mixture and gently scrub each slat. Then rinse them with water and let them air dry.
For blinds that are extra greasy, dirty, or sticky, you’ll want to remove them from the window entirely and immerse them in a bathtub of warm water and a small amount of dish soap. Soak them for an hour or so, rinse them, and hang them outside until they’re completely dry. Cleaning vinyl blinds can be a real hassle, that’s why A Plus has developed the best cleaning techniques and solutions to get your blinds completely clean.
Pleated Shade Cleaning
Cleaning pleated or cellular shades can be tricky because they’re made of fabric and have been specially constructed to create their unique look. But like all shades, they’ll collect dust and dirt over time. One way to prevent bad stains is to vacuum your pleated shades weekly with a small brush attachment. Be sure to do it gently and always use a brush so the shade doesn’t get sucked into the hose, which can damage it’s construction irreparably. Use a can of compressed air to blow dust and dirt out of the inside of the cells. For any stains, blot them gently using a lint-free cloth with warm water and a mild dish soap. Pat them dry with a separate cloth. Don’t scrub the surface because it can cause the fabric to pill. Don’t get your cellular shades overly wet or they’ll lose their shape, and unlike vinyl shades, never submerge your pleated shades in water.
Cleaning pleated or cellular shades can be challenging and time-consuming. Let A Plus take care of this delicate chore for you. We have the experience and know-how to make sure your shades are completely clean and undamaged.
Vertical Blind Cleaning
Vertical blinds collect dust and grime like all blinds, especially since most of them are floor length and can pick up dust and other dirt particles when vacuuming carpets. If you see they need cleaning, remove the blind vanes from the headrail by unhooking or unclipping them. Dust the headrail itself with a damp cloth so you won’t be putting your freshly cleaned vanes up on a dusty rail. Fill a large pail, or even a bathtub with warm water (not hot!). Scrub the vanes very gently with a soft sponge or cloth from top to bottom, but don’t soak them because they can shrink and also lose their fire retardant properties. Don’t hang the vanes back up to dry as this can cause them to stretch. Lay them flat and let them dry completely before re-hanging them. Cleaning your vertical blinds can be time-consuming and some stains can be difficult to remove. Give A Plus Cleaning a call and we’ll have your vertical blinds looking like new.
